Whose world?
Any representation of the world or globe is not a perfect mirror of reality. The world is constantly changing, so any image captures that moment in time. Any image is drawn from a perspective. Planet Earth is open to interpretation and (mis) representation in the same way as any other object or piece of information. Often images in geography are presented as the truth. The challenge of geography is to reveal the complexity that is the global dimension. To achieve this we need to develop for ourselves and with our pupils an informed evaluation of the resources that we use to teach and learn about the global dimension. As teachers we need to support pupils in developing an awareness of the complexity of the world.
