Supporting education for sustainable development
You will by now have seen that there are overlaps between the concepts and learning outcomes for education for sustainable development, global citizenship, PSHE, and for many subject areas of the curriculum. We now look at a range of resources that can be used to link and develop these areas, starting with some ideas in the activity on the right.

Activity
Trips
Organise day (or longer) trips to environment centres, fieldwork centres, urban study centres or rural (or urban) farms. These trips could focus on an environmental project.

Clubs
Set up a lunchtime or after-school environment club. You may be able to get help with this from parents or other adults in the local community, or from local organisations.
Awards
Enter an awards scheme such as Eco-Schools. Details of the Eco-Schools award scheme are available from the Eco-Schools website: Eco-Schools
Events
Take part in annual and seasonal events such as World Water Day, World Environment Day, International Day of Peace or World Food Day. Details of web links for these days can be found in the 'Calendar' section of the Global Dimension website: Global Dimension
