Conclusion
We conclude this unit by considering how pupil participation in democratic processes and links with school communities overseas can address the requirements of the curriculum. Clearly, developing self confidence, preparing to play a role as active citizens, developing good relationships, and learning respect for differences between people can all be taught and learned through processes such as school councils, a model UN and school links.
Complete the activity on the right. This final activity enables you to reflect on how these processes can contribute to the delivery of the curriculum.

Activity
- Using the statements from the citizenship/personal, social and health education (PSHE) curriculum (or similar areas of your curriculum if you are not in England), identify which requirements can be met through processes such as school councils, a model UN and school links. Present these ideas to colleagues and discuss how, when and where they can be incorporated into school policy and practice.
- Consider also how such processes could contribute to other areas of the curriculum, such as English, geography, art, history and information and communications technology (ICT).
